STEP 2:
Apply compound to hole. You can get a DAP product from a hardware store which goes on pink and turns white when dry. Using a dry wall knife, apply the compound to the hole – feathering out the edges.
STEP 3:
Sand down once the compound is dry, use a fine sand paper to even out the surface, leaving it smooth and ready to re- paint.
STEP 4:
For medium to larger holes, outline the damaged area with a square.
STEP 5:
Using a drywall knife or saw, cut away the damaged area.
STEP 6:
Cut a new piece of dry wall the same length
STEP 7:
Drill into the stud or a wooden block to hold the piece of dry wall in place.
STEP 8:
Cover with compound. After placing the filler piece in, use a wide dry wall knife and apply compound to close the gaps between the new piece of dry wall and the existing wall.
STEP 9:
Place dry wall tape over the gaps
STEP 10:
Apply more compound over the seams lengthwise then widthwise.
STEP 11:
Once it is dry, sand it to be flush with the existing wall and paint as required.
